Cong. Kagen Statement on HHS Decision on SeniorCare

(APPLETON) Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. issued the following statement on the decision by Department of Health and Human Services to deny a waiver extension to Wisconsin SeniorCare:

It is unfortunate that the Administration did not honor Wisconsin’s request, supported by the state’s entire Congressional delegation, to be kind to our elders by granting a waiver extension to the most successful prescription drug program in America – SeniorCare.

We have received notification that the Administration is not interested in saving tax dollars and providing an extensive range of prescription drug care to Wisconsin seniors.

Wisconsin’s exceptionally successful SeniorCare program saves tax dollars and saves the very lives of our parents and grandparents.

I will do whatever it takes to guarantee access to affordable prescription drug care to seniors – beginning with forgiving any seniors from having to pay late fees to insurance companies when signing up late to the complex and more expensive Medicare Part D prescription drug program.

Please join me in sending a strong message to the President in opposition to his decision to end our SeniorCare program and for failing to listen to the will of the people.
