$61,000 For Kaukauna Fire Dept Grant to Upgrade Equipment

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) The Kakauna Fire Department has received a $61,101 grant from the Homeland Security Department, Congressman Steve Kagen, M.D. announced today.

The grant will be used to replace worn and obsolete protective gear for firefighters and replace 2 thermal imaging cameras.

The fire department will purchase 17 sets of turnout gear (protective pants and jackets), and 32 helmets, boots, gloves and protective hoods.

“The Kakauna Fire Department serves the community every day and I salute their bravery and hard work. Homeland Security recognizes the important work they do with this award,” says Congressman Kagen.

“This grant further enhances our ability to serve our community,” says Chief Paul Hirte of the Kakauna Fire Deparment.

The grant was made under the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.
